Mary Lou Stanley, BHSc (PT), BA, MPE
Mary Lou received her Bachelor of Health Science degree in Physical Therapy from McMaster University in 1994. She also holds a Masters in Motor Learning and Control from the University of British Columbia. While at UBC she did her thesis research with Dr. Ian Franks, director of the Motor Learning & Control Laboratory in the Faculty of Education (School of Kinesiology).
Mary Lou has worked as a Registered Physical Therapist in private practice in Vancouver since 1994. She has continued to pursue post-graduate training in Physical Therapy in the areas of therapeutic exercise, sport physiotherapy, posture and muscle balance, Feldenkrais®, and Anat Baniel Method® (NeuroMovement®).
Mary Lou is one of the most experienced practitioners of the Feldenkrais Method® in Canada. She studied with Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais and completed the Feldenkrais Professional Training Program 1983, becoming a Guild Certified Feldenkrais PractitionerTM. Since then she has taught the Feldenkrais Method and continued to pursue advanced training in the Method. From 2013 – 2018 Mary Lou studied with Anat Baniel (a close associate of Dr. Feldenkrais). Mary Lou was certified as an Anat Baniel Method℠ (ABM) Practitioner (NeuroMovement®) for adults in 2015, for children in 2016, for vitality & anti-aging in 2017, and for high performers in 2018.
Mary Lou is a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) and the Feldenkrais Guild of North America (FGNA).
